First off, I’m sorry for not writing about this sooner. But here’s a friend of mine who’s trying to do something wonderful for gamers.

As many more Barcrafts are coming to many more cities around the globe, the idea of a bar for gamers is becoming more and more prevalent. Which is where EXP Restaurant and Bar comes in. In Vancouver, BC he’s trying to open a bar that caters to the gaming community. Whether it’s Starcraft, or League, or Street Fighter, this is a place for you to watch and play your favourite games and knock back a drink or two.

The fundraiser is located right here. Please give if you can, anything helps. There are various contributor levels and rewards that can benefit you even if you don’t live in Vancouver. I want to see more and more of these types of bars everywhere, and have a place to go specifically for us. Please help that dream!

MLG Raleigh Day 2 Starcraft II Light Recap

In day two, an early game was between Liquid`Hero and PainUser. Hero more or less ran over PainUser with no difficulty, even going as far to write TL on the map in pylons and making a mothership.

Again, this is all stream coverage.
All of EG. Puma’s games have been incredibly solid. He is just a monster. Dignitas.SelecT was also doing very well, and looked like one of the best foreigners. STBomber was just absolutely crushing his opposition

EG.Puma versus SK/oGs NaDa was an intense display of Starcraft II skill. Puma had nearly continuous harass, and took it into a huge macro game, incorporating Thors.

Unfortunately, I had some other commitments, and I pretty much missed the last half of the day. I apologize for that, but that’s just how it goes sometimes. I caught a few games here and there, like when Reign.Kiwikaki took game 1 in the set versus EG.Puma. Again, I apologize for the lack of coverage.
What were some of your favourite moments in day two of MLG Raleigh?

MLG Raleigh Day 1 Starcraft II Recap

So the first day of MLG is done, and already it’s been crazy. coLMVP DongRaeGu holding off the 6 pool and Spine Crawler from Reign.Slush to close the set was an awesome way to start off. And the set between Reign.Kiwikaki and oGsNaDa was incredible as well. A push by NaDa hit at the perfect time for Kiwikaki, and NaDa made some tiny mistakes, and Kiwikaki takes the set to be the first foreigner to beat a Korean at MLG. For those who aren’t aware, the term “foreigner” in Starcraft II means a player who isn’t Korean.

See some more of my favourite moments after the jump.

Great Article at GameSpot

There was an interesting article posted over at GameSpot.

I know the first reaction is to knee-jerk rage at the title, but don’t. If you actually read the article, it’s not only accurate and not full of opinionated garbage, it’s an intelligent article. It’s the most informed article written for a major gaming site from the perspective of an outsider to the ESports community. Not only that, but it’s even friendly and not judgmental. He even goes as far as to get some comments from Sundance DiGiovanni, one of the founders of Major League Gaming (MLG). Most writers for gaming sites can’t even be bothered to go to Google, yet Tom Magrino goes and talks to a major player in the ESports industry.

This is how you do it. He doesn’t attack MLG for releasing statistics that aren’t entirely clear, he asks for clarification, and gets it. He doesn’t attack the readers of the site, he reaches out to them. Hopefully this is the first of many informed, educated articles.
